Recently, I received a query from a reader who is a descendant of one Penghulu Mat Taha of Layang2, Perak. In his query, he would like me to provide an evidence showing that Penghulu Mat Taha is a son of Maharaja Dewa Panjang Ugek. Below is the actual query sent to me:
As mentioned in my earlier posting on Maharaja Lambor genealogy, the Penghulu mentioned above is a member of that aristocratic house of Lambor. The manuscript that shows this lineage of his is MS 40332 Misc. Papers which is kept at SOAS, London. And yes, I do have a copy of the manuscript. The snapshot below illustrates the relationship between Penghulu Mat Taha and the Maharaja Dewa Panjang Ugek.
According to the reader, there’s no mention about this Penghulu Mat Taha as a son of Maharaja Dewa Panjang Ugek in Geni.Com. Well, obviously, the person who updates the ancestry in Geni.Com has no information or has unreliable information. Honestly, I am one of the few who are against Geni.Com.
I personally boycott the website because the users of the application can simply add their own version of ancestry and it would be hassle for the administrators of ancestries to correct the family tree. Some times, users only heard rumours about their family and they simply key-in to the Geni.Com family tree. As a result, others who are seeking the truth are misled by the incorrect information displayed on Geni.Com.
So to Sdr Shamadzhar, this is the evidence showing that Penghulu Mat Taha is indeed a son of Maharaja Dewa Panjang Ugek.
